I want to get into pokemon again?

Last pokemon game I played was that silver game and maybe yellow... I want to know if it's better to get Black and White or HG or SS the silver and gold remakes... I loved silver and felt the remake would be cool, but I want to discover new pokemon too.. (I sound like a geek). But I heard that black and white's pokemon designs are god damn terrible
